The Arbitration Council Foundation (ACF) was recently invited to present at the inaugural ‘International Conference on Labour Relations & Dispute Resolution’ hosted by Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in partnership with the International Labour Organisation and Cornell, Michigan State and California State Universities, USA.
The conference focused on worker rights, dispute resolution and legal compliance in the global supply chain with an emphasis on labour relations in Vietnam. As an academic conference, attendees were privileged to hear from a range of international and national expert academics, researchers and practitioner scholars as well as Ministry policy makers. The ACF was invited to speak about the important role of conciliation and arbitration in the Cambodian dispute resolution system.
The ACF presentation was well received by attendees – questions following the presentation concerned enforcement mechanisms for Arbitration Council (AC) decisions, the role of the AC during strike action and how the AC remains a trusted, independent and accountable institution. The ACF is grateful to organisers for the opportunity to further disseminate the positive impacts and successes of the AC and its important role in alternative labour dispute resolution in the ASEAN region.
