The Arbitration Council Foundation  (ACF) was delighted to be invited to participate in a roundtable discussion regarding ‘Workers’ Rights’ along with other panel discussions held at the German Embassy Residence on 8 July 2015. The event was organised upon the event of visiting Members of the Federal German Parliament’s (Bundestag) ASEAN Group to Cambodia.

The ACF was pleased to contribute to discussion describing the important role of the Arbitration Council (AC) in the Cambodian industrials relations community and the AC’s effective resolution of collective labour disputes (success rate of around 73%). The ACF also had the opportunity to highlight the positive impact of effective dispute resolution and AC intervention in strike action on the economic growth of Cambodia, while also discussing the financial challenges of maintaining a free public service. Other members of the panel included representatives from the German International Cooperation Agency, Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, employers association, trade unions and International Labour Organization (ILO).
